The 98th Playing of the West Virginia Women’s Amateur, presented by Kalaskey Orthodontics and conducted by the West Virginia Golf Association (WVGA), closed its second day of the three-day championship at Berry Hills Country Club in Charleston. This championship features the best 28 female golfers from West Virginia.
The second round of play found Huntington’s Susan Glasby is a top of the leaderboard after Round Two. Glasby fired a round of +2 (72) and holds a slim one stroke lead over the Round One leader, Cathleen Wong of Parkersburg, who concluded her day with a round of 74.
Savannah Hawkins of Hurricane currently holds the Low Junior through 36 holes after today’s 78 and Karen Kennett of Shepherdstown is currently leading the Seniors with a Round Two of 82.
Glasby said, “It was tough day. The course is playing great. I’m happy to be in this position going into the final round and hope to have a good day tomorrow.”
“Over the years, we’ve hosted tournaments at all levels,” explained Berry Hills Country Club Head Golf Professional Berry Evans. “As the golf pro here, I love watching good golfers, like this field of 28, and enjoy showing off our course and facilities.”
